As we roll into the final week of the first quarter of the year, Seven have followed Nine’s lead, and declared victory for the initial three months of 2024.
Seven claimed this morning it has “taken the title of the fastest growing commercial total TV network so far this year”, and has “closed the gap on its closest rival” – who released their own claim as “number one in quarter one” a fortnight ago.
Seven’s national prime time total TV audience has jumped 5.7%, year-on-year, during the quarter, more than double Nine’s growth. Seven is now reaching 17 million Australians a month.
Although Seven stopped short of claiming Total TV commercial share — ceding this to Nine, while also dismissing their claims as “confusing” and “all over the shop” — it noted its total TV average audience share is 40.1%, up from 38.3% in the same period in 2023, with its 25 to 54 audience share up from 33.2% to 33.6%.
Seven’s share of the commercial BVOD market has increaded from 29.2% to 32.6%, year-on-year, while minutes streamed on 7plus are up by 40%.
“No one has matched our audience gains, which have been led by the best news, sport and entertainment content in the country,” said Seven West Media CEO and managing director James Warburton.
“Three months in and 2024 is already shaping up as a great year for Seven, our viewers and our partners.”
Seven Network’s chief content officer, entertainment programming, Angus Ross, said: “It’s been a strong start to the year, with Seven recording the biggest audience growth of any network, and the best is yet to come,” predicting Seven’s strong 2024 lineup “will make Seven #1 again this year.”
